I had the yummiest chicken Pad Thai ever on Monday evening but that’s not the best part. The best is I made it myself! Well, with a lot of advice and assistance from a professional chef, but still!
It all began with a booking at L’atelier des Chefs for a 30 minutes cooking class. We decided to start small, as boyfriend is not kitchen-trained just yet and I can get easily bored.
It was above all my expectations, to be honest. The chef was amazingly patient and he shared a lot from his knowledge with us. I learned how to properly peel a garlic glove, for instance, and I am now aware of lots of new ingredients I didn’t even know they existed before, like palm sugar and tamarind paste.
Apparently, L’atelier des Chefs is one of the UK’s most popular cookery schools and London‘s ultimate cook & dine experience. According to their website, last year they taught over 30,000 people how to master a wide range of cuisines and skills, earning them a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.
Classes range from 30 minutes to 4 hours and they are conveniently located in Oxford Circus and St.Paul’s. We had our class at their location in St. Paul’s, so we did a bit of sightseeing before.
Here is the drill: you go, you cook, you eat. You can order drinks before, during and after. You can eat there or take away, up to you. You can’t really ruin the dish because the chef has his eyes on you at all times. And, ladies and gentlemen, YOU DON’T HAVE TO CLEAN!
Bottom line, we are sold! We are going back for more. We are thinking to learn how to make sushi and I would also like to try some French cuisine. I am very good at eating, I think it’s high time I get better at cooking as well!
What do you think? 🙂
